首先先來複習「As」到底有多少種意思，不說你都來不知道它有以下6種常見不同意思的用法吧!
1. 作為…(介係詞)
She works as a waitress. (她的工作是作為一個服務生。)
2. 用於比較；指稱程度 (adv.)
I can’t run as fast as you. (我不能跑得像你一樣快。)
3. 因為…(連結詞conj.)
As it was getting late, I decided to book into a hotel. (由於現在越來越晚了，我決定預約一家旅店。
4. 如同…(連接詞)
He got divorced, (just) as his parents had done years before. (他離婚了，就如同他雙親幾年前一樣。)
5. 當…時候 (連結詞conj.)
He gets more attractive as he gets older. (當他變老時顯得更有魅力。)
6. 雖然 (連結詞conj.) = Although
Angry as he was, he couldn’t help smiling. (雖然他很生氣但他還是忍不住地笑了。)
常見的四個由「 As 」所組成的連接詞/片語:
1. As long as 只要…
又可以進一步細分為三種意思:
- 只要（在一段時間內）…就會…
I’ll remember you as long as I live. (只要我還活著，我就會一直記得你。) - 只要（達成某件事）…就可以
B as long as A (只要達成A, B就可以成立)
We can play, as long as it doesn’t rain. (只要不下雨, 我們就能玩。)
I’ll help as long as you be quiet. (只要你安靜我就會幫你。) - 長達…（時間）
用以誇飾或強調時間的「長度」，可以翻譯成根本長達…(時間)
The conference could be as long as four hours. (這個研討會根本就會長達四小時。)
2. As soon as 一…就…
I’ll tell him as soon as I see him. (我一見到他就告訴他。)
3. As well as (conj.) 也；又
She is a talented musician as well as being a photographer. (她不但是攝影師還是個很有才華的音樂家。)
4. As far as (conj.) 達到…的程度；就…而言
As far as I can know, this is the best choice we have now. (這是目前就我知道我們最好的選擇。)
5. As if 好像, 似乎；彷彿 (= as though)
用於陳述語氣和虛擬語氣。陳述語氣通常是描述一個人的狀態；而虛擬語氣則是表示與事實相反。
I felt as though I’d been lying in the sun for hours. (我感覺就像我已經在陽光下躺了幾小時。)
They stared at me as if I was crazy. (他們看著我就好像我已經瘋了一樣。)
